This poem is about Mughal Emperor Mohammad Shah, who was famous as Shah Rangeela. He was blamed for his bad character in the pages of history. This poem is written in his praise with the idea that he should be praised because he was a sign of

the freedom of India. Atleast as compared to the foreign invaders , he was a better person. More than that he was a better ruler than the British because he was an Indian.

Batarz-e-shah-e-gadayaa.N tha shah rangeela

Watan tha kocha-e-rindaa.N tha shah rangeela

khizaa.N se sarf-e-nazar is liye hua mumkin

The khalq mast-e-baharaa.N tha shah rangeela

Kaho na kaam faqat mai’ kashi se tha usko

bawajh-e-masti-e-irfaa.N tha shah rangeela

Lahoo se dast-e-hawas ke miyaan-e-dast-o-chaman

barang-e-nook-e-mughilaa.N tha shah rangeela

lahoo se khalq ke daman na ker saka rangee.N

misaal-e-zakhm-e-shahidaa.N tha shah rangeela

shaoor-e-safha-e-ulfat se khalq thi rangee.N

Bawajhe shookhi-e-unwaa.N tha shah rangeela

Kabhi tha dhoop kabhi chaaoo.N tu kabhi sawan

Barang-e-rooz-e-baharaa.N tha shah rangeela

diyar-e-hind ki tareek shab ke seene mai.N

misaal-e-bazm-e-charaghaa.N tha shah rangeela

bata de mujh ko aye tareekha ke yahaa.N mashhoor

siyaah kiyoo.N he ager waa.N tha shah rangeela

Utaar phenka sar-e-aam parda-e-mehmil

The khalq deed ki khahaa.N ,tha shah rangeela

Aseer-e-zulf the sab loog door mai.N uske

Watan tha kocha-e-janaa.N , tha shah rangeela
